JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is working to increase awareness of the need in Region 8.

A "Summer Meals Tour" happened at several different charitable organizations Thursday that work to help those in need in Northeast Arkansas. The tour is designed to help raise awareness about the importance of summer meals for kids.

Communications Director for the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, Nancy Conley said, "They're at special risk in the summer. Kids that often rely on school lunches. Those aren't available in the summer and so, a lot of times kids don't know where they're next meal is coming from."

Tours were given at the Hispanic Center, City Youth Ministries and the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.
