Modeling fashion styles raises awareness about breast cancer

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Cancer survivors showed the latest fashion Friday as part of the Runway for the Cure event.

Eight cancer survivors joined family and friends, at the St. Bernards Auditorium, as they modeled down a catwalk in front of a live audience.

The event has been going on for seven years now and always strives to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Dee Collins, breast cancer navigator with St Bernards, said they need to take advantage of every opportunity they have to let people know about the disease.

"It's an opportunity to be with other survivors," said Collins. "They have that camaraderie and those folks who have not had breast cancer for us to see that there is survivorship."

The event ran from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Over 200 people attended Friday's show. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
