LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A pair of severe thunderstorms moved through the Las Vegas Valley on Friday night, bringing flooding, wind and plenty of thunder and lightning.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning about 7 p.m. as the storms began moving in to the northeast side of the metro. As the storms moved southwest, they began to intensify, bringing heavy rainfall and causing flooding.

Flooding was reported near Craig and Pecos roads, Green Valley, along Boulder Highway, the Strip and numerous other parts of the Valley.

The wind was strong enough to bring down some trees and power lines in parts of the area. FOX5 received several reports of power outages across the Valley.

Some shutterbugs captured images of the intense lightning produced by the storms.

At the Atrium Garden condo complex near Pecos Road and Washington Avenue, trees were snapped in half, some were uprooted. Trees broke gas lines, tore down wires and broke some poles. The complex lost power and gas. Trees fell on approximately 15 units. Between 40 and 50 people were displaced with Desert Pines High School serving as an evacuation center. Those displaced are being aided by the American Red Cross.

NV Energy reported approximately 33,000 customers lost power due to the storm, most on the east side of town.

Forecasters warned of more flooding rains through the weekend. A flash flood watch has been issued for all of southern Nevada through Monday evening.
