Doctors and nurses learn new techniques on treating wounds

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Medical professionals from Northeast Arkansasreceived up to date information on techniques for treating wounds.

St. Bernard's hosted the Wound Care Education program thatfeatured presentations by physicians and nurses on what causes chronic wounds andhow to treat them.

"There'salways new things coming out and often that's what I get questions on," said Marty Algee, St. Bernard's Director of Wound Services. "It will be on the guidelines and whichguidelines we follow and why do you treat this wound this way versus this one. So, it's those type thingsthat we're addressing today."

The class is usually offered once a year atSt. Bernard's, but Algee said they will provide services at other establishments.Any medical professionals interested in the program can contact the St. Bernard's WoundService office. The program is free of charge.
