Doctors and nurses learn new techniques on treating wounds

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Medical professionals from Northeast Arkansas received up to date information on techniques for treating wounds.

St. Bernard's hosted the Wound Care Education program that featured presentations by physicians and nurses on what causes chronic wounds and how to treat them.

"There's always new things coming out and often that's what I get questions on," said Marty Algee, St. Bernard's Director of Wound Services. "It will be on the guidelines and which guidelines we follow and why do you treat this wound this way versus this one. So, it's those type things that we're addressing today."

The class is usually offered once a year at St. Bernard's, but Algee said they will provide services at other establishments. Any medical professionals interested in the program can contact the St. Bernard's Wound Service office. The program is free of charge.
