Little girl celebrates birthday by 'paying it forward'

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A special birthday was celebrated in the KAIT-TV studios Tuesday for a little girl hoping to make a big difference.

Cadence McGuire lost her parents and sister in a car accident this year. Thousands have offered their support through a campaign called "Cards for Cadence".

Now the goal has changed for the cause to help other children.

Not only that, Cadence received a very special gift on her birthday at the studio. See her celebration on Region 8 News Midday here.

The initial goal for "Cards for Cadence" was to get a couple hundred birthday cards for Cadence on her first birthday without her family. However, the movement spread, cards were delivered from every state and Cadence received cards from several different countries. Now, she plans to make cards and send them to other children in need. "Cadence's Cards" gives Cadence the opportunity to pay it forward and honor her mother who had such a big heart for other children.

Her Grandmother, Mary Lou Herron said the well wishes, love and prayers sent from all over have helped not only Cadence get through it but the whole family.

"To know that some many people took time out of their day just to think about her and pray about her means a lot," said Herron. "She is our little miracle and I think the world is just drawn to her because of her strength and she is keeping us strong."
