Former Weldon employee pleads guilty, sentenced to probation

WELDON, AR (KAIT) – A former Weldon city employee has pled guilty to theft and was sentenced to probation.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce, Andrea Adams pled guilty to felony theft of property in a Jackson County courtroom Monday.

The charged followed an audit of city records where it was revealed Adams had misappropriated funds for personal use.

Boyce said she will have to pay the city back $47,893. In addition, Adams will have to pay investigative expenses to the Arkansas Division of Legislative Audit and a $2,500 fine to Jackson County.

Adams did pay $25,000 on Monday and will serve 10 years of supervised probation, according to Boyce.

Adams resigned as Weldon's recorder/treasurer in Oct. 2009.
