HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Oaklawn thoroughbred race track has released the schedule for its 31 stakes races for its 2014 season and says it has raised purses for 19 of the starts.
The track in Hot Springs said Wednesday that the minimum purse for all open stakes races will rise from $60,000 to $100,000. The starting purse for state-bred stakes is going from $60,000 to $75,000.
Oaklawn's meet begins Jan. 10 and features 57 days of racing.
The track says purses for the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap and Azeri Stakes each will get $50,000 purse bumps to $200,000 each. Oaklawn is moving the Razorback to March 15 as part of a Racing Festival of the South Preview card along with the Azeri and the $600,000 Rebel Stakes.
The festival will stretch over two weekends.
