JONEBORO, AR (KAIT)- St. Bernards' monthly "Story in the Forest" storytelling event on Saturday set the stage for future events, too.
Leaders in the community volunteer to read a story to the kids every month in the Fun Forest play area at the Mall at Turtle Creek. The readers in today's event dressed up like characters from The Wizard of Oz. The books Saturday were about children's experiences in the hospital.
Beth Murff, with the St. Bernards Women's Advisory Council, says the event was a way to shed light on their upcoming event. "Specifically, we're focusing on supporting and communicating about our upcoming event, August the 24th, called Kids on the Mile which is an event to raise health awareness," Murff said.
The event of the 24th will focus on eating, playing and learning healthy behaviors.
