Craighead Co. deputies make one arrest in Jonesboro accident

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - CraigheadCounty deputies were dispatched to Hwy. 49 around 8 p.m. Sunday in response toan accident.

Sgt. Brian Skinner said when theyarrived on scene, they found an overturned car. Deputies could not tell ifanyone was inside the car.

Both Jonesboro and Valley View FireDepartments were called to the scene to overturn the vehicle and search forsurvivors.

No one was found inside the car butSkinner told Region 8 News they believe the people involved ran away soon afterthe accident.

One person has been arrested. TheCraighead County Sheriff's Department is looking for the second suspect.

"They were traveling northboundon 49," said Sgt. Skinner. "[They] started to negotiate a right-handcurve and they traveled off the roadway, went into a ditch and overturnedapproximately two times."

Hwy. 49 was shut down for about threehours and traffic was diverted to Hwy. 226 and Craighead County road 203 asemergency crews worked the scene.
