BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU took to the field Monday morning with 26 days left until the season opener with TCU in Arlington, TX.

LSU Practice Quick Hits:

"This is my ninth fall camp here at LSU and I can tell you that it is always a pleasure to take a team and return them to Baton Rouge," coach Les Miles said at his first meeting with the media on Sunday afternoon."

"We have had a great summer. I think this team took on a great challenge with the opener at TCU and understanding that is a quality opponent and they are going to have to start fast. To me there has been a lot of weight lost and some strength improved and I think we come to the start of camp very healthy and ready to compete."

Less than 30 minutes into the first practice offensive coordinator Cam Cameron was not happy with the slow tempo of the offense. He told the team "to go faster." The offensive pace will be much quicker this year with Cam Cameron.

Linebacker Lamin Barrow will be wearing number 18 this year for the Tigers.

Barrow: Having Kwon Alexander and Tahj Jones back full-time at linebacker is big boost for LSU.

Several true freshmen practiced Monday with the veterans. The group included Desean Smith, Jeryl Brazil and Kendell Beckwith.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brick Haley got on 275 pound freshman lineman Greg Gilmore. The heralded recruit was not sprinting to his satisfaction.

A judge ruled suspended LSU running back Jeremy Hill will continue to be on probation, but added 40 hours of community service, during a hearing Monday.

Blake Sims was good enough to finish his first start at quarterback for Alabama, getting plenty of help from Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry, and the second-ranked Crimson Tide held off West Virginia...
Blake Sims took a seat on the bench next to Jake Coker after leading Alabama to a score and the two chatted for a few minutes before it was time for the offense to go back on the field.
