How to program an antenna for KAIT

If you're looking to view KAIT programming and Region 8 News over an antenna, you will need an antenna capable of receiving VHF and UHF signals. KAIT is in the VHF band while all other stations in our local area are in the UHF band.  (In Memphis, WMC is on channel 5, WHBQ is on channel 13, and all other stations are UHF signals)

If you have an indoor antenna with rabbit ears, connect it to the coaxial connector on the back of your TV.  Set the length of the rabbit ears to a length of approximately 15 1/4 inches and at as close to 180 degree angle from one another as it will go. 

Try and place the antenna close to a window facing the direction of KAIT's tower as shown on the map with this story.

Once your antenna is placed and connected, go into the setup or channel menu on your TV, change your channel mode to "Air" and scan for channels. If you don't find KAIT, you may need an outdoor antenna, or it's possible your antenna is UHF only. 

If you have an outdoor VHF antenna, connect it to the coaxial connector on the back of your TV. Aim the antenna in the direction of KAIT's tower as shown on the attached map. Once your antenna is aimed and connected, go into the setup or channel menu on your TV, change your channel mode to "Air" and scan for channels.

Frequency = 180 to 186 Megahertz

Effective radiated power = 28,200 watts

Tower Height = 1,792 feet

Tower location = Latitude, 35°53'22" north, Longitude, 90°56'08" west
