JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) – Arkansas State tennis coach Marina Engelbrecht announced the signing of two student-athletes to the A-State tennis squad Tuesday.
Victoria Pisani of Tring, Hertfordshire (England) and Julie Gauguery of Sailly-en-Ostrevent, France have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Red Wolves in 2013-14.
"Victoria and Julie are two great additions to our team they will give us depth in both singles and doubles," Engelbrecht said. "Victoria brings a lot of experience and success in doubles to our team. Julie is a strong singles player with a great passion for the sport. I'm really excited about these two ladies and look forward to seeing them accomplish great things for us."
Pisani is a 2013 graduate of Tring School, where she was the team captain for the U18 County Championships from 2011-13. She finished second overall at the U18 County Championships in 2013 and was awarded team MVP. She also earned a 5.1 rating and in addition to tennis participated in hockey and basketball.
Gauguery is a 2013 graduate of Baudimont. She obtained a strong rating of zero in the French rating system and captured wins over players rated higher than her at -2/6 and -4/6. She competed for Racing Club Arras and Vautour tennis club.
The Arkansas State tennis team returns six lettermen from last season's squad that registered five wins a year ago.
