Probation officer accused of having sex with offender

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) – A Missouri probation officer is accused of having sex with those he supervised.

According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, Frederick B. Tates of Kennett was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with felony corruption. He was also charged with second felony, sexual contact with an offender.

Tates is accused of having sex with a client of his between September 2008 and June 2009 while he was a Missouri Board of Probation and Parole officer. In return for sex, Tates is accused of changing the supervision level of his client along with waiving supervision fees and jail detention.

 Sheriff Holder also states Tates is accused of having sexual intercourse with an offender under his supervision in June of 2009.

Tates posted a $10,000 bond and will appear in court again August 9.
