JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State baseball program announced Wednesday that Jon Garner has joined the team as the new Director of Operations.
Garner is no stranger to the Red Wolves' program, having served as a student manager from 2008-12 where he assisted the program in a variety of roles.
"We are very excited about adding Jon as our Director of Operations," ASU head baseball coach Tommy Raffo said. "We feel like he is going to be a great fit for the position and will help the program to move forward in our goals of winning championships."
In his new position, Garner will be responsible for team travel along with coordinating the A-State's baseball program's social media efforts. He will oversee all of the team's student managers, assist with summer and fall camps and help maintain equipment.
Prior to his appointment, Garner spent the 2012 season working with the Ontario Blue Jays as the squad's Manager of Baseball Operations where he was in charge of the day-to-day operations and made travel arrangements for the club.
"I would like to thank Coach Raffo for this great opportunity," Garner said. "I am very excited to be apart of the A-State baseball program. After working as a student manager in years past, I was thrilled when the opportunity came up to rejoin the ASU family and the baseball team."
Garner, at native of Wynne, Ark., graduated from Arkansas State in 2012 with a degree in Sports Management.
