Two Region 8 men arrested after stealing a bucket of chicken

SEARCY, AR (KAIT) – Region 8 police plucked up two men Wednesday after they reportedly stole a bucket of chicken from a local store.

Searcy police were called to Walmart around noon Wednesday concerning two men leaving the store with a bucket of chicken, an electric razor and four 2-way radios without paying. The men ran once the officers arrived, according to Chief Jeremy Clark.

Jerry Hemmert, 24, of Searcy was caught near Highway 67 off Race Street. Curtis Malone,26, of Searcy was found buried under trash bags in the Dollar Tree dumpster.

The men were taken to the White County Detention Center and charged with fleeing.  Their bond was set at $475 each. Hemmert was also served with a failure to appear warrant. Theft of property charges are pending on both men.
