Ribbon Cutting at the new Paragould Primary building

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Preschool through first grade students in the Paragould School District will start the school year in a brand new building.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took place Wednesday afternoon at the Paragould Primary building.

The building has fourteen kindergarten, twelve first grade and seven preschool classrooms.

The facility also contains its own cafeteria, gymnasium and special education section in the center of the building.

"At the 3 smaller elementary we were right on top of each other, out of classroom space.  People shared classrooms," said Kristina Moss, kindergarten teacher at the district. "They traveled around on buggies because, you know, they didn't have an exact spot.  Here, we have so much room."

This new building runs on a geothermal system, cutting down on the school's utility expenses.
