JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- A training session for "mandated reporters" took place at Arkansas State University Thursday.
Centennial Hall was filled with people who work with children on a daily basis. Featured speakers included Second Judicial District Prosecutor, Scott Ellington, and Carol Robinson with the Attorney General's office.
Lea Ann Vanaman with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division said consistent training for mandated reporters is crucial. "They're here among their peers, you know, people that they work with. Law enforcement, social workers, school teachers and they're learning this together. So, hopefully we'll all be on the same page as far as reporting," Vanaman said.
Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
