JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) — Four Arkansas State women's soccer student-athletes were selected to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference team, the publication announced Saturday.
Christina Fink, Loren Mitchell and Ashley Jackson nabbed first-team honors, while Katey Carmichael was chosen to the second team. The four selections to the team were the most in school history and the second most of any team in the Sun Belt.
Fink was the Red Wolves' leader in goals with nine in 2012, while also totaling 25 points, which was the second most in school history in a single season. Mitchell was second on the team with seven goals and 17 points.
Jackson anchored a defensive back line that allowed just 28 goals and had six shutouts. Carmichael was third on the team with six goals and tied for the team lead in assists with seven.
The Red Wolves are coming off their best season in school history and will begin their 2013 campaign with a pair of exhibition matches Aug. 14 at Memphis and Aug. 16 at Saint Louis. A-State will open the regular season at home Aug. 23 against Southern Mississippi.
