JONESBORO (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Tuesday that St. Bernards Healthcare has signed a multi-year corporate sponsorship agreement. As a part of the new agreement, St. Bernards has been designated the "official healthcare provider for A-State Athletics."
"We have a tremendous history with St. Bernards, and today's announcement is another example of how our long-standing relationship continues to develop," said Arkansas State Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir. "St. Bernards and our team doctors with JOSM (Jonesboro Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine) provide first-class medical attention to our student-athletes, and it is with great excitement that they now have the moniker as the 'official healthcare provider for A-State Athletics."
"St. Bernards is pleased to be able to partner with A-State Athletics through this new corporate sponsorship," said Chris B. Barber, president and chief executive officer of St. Bernards Healthcare. "We are especially pleased to be designated the official healthcare provider for A-State Athletics, and we look forward to having even more substantial support of A-State athletic events.
"We understand the value of the university and its programs – both academic and athletic – in this community and beyond," Barber continued. "St. Bernards long has supported the university, and we have very close ties to health professions and other programs that are important in training future providers of health services. As a matter of fact, many of our employees are ASU graduates."
While the new three-year corporate sponsorship agreement will place St. Bernards at the forefront of all healthcare areas related to the Red Wolves' 16 NCAA varsity sports, the healthcare provider has supported A-State athletics for nearly four decades by assisting with physicals for its student-athletes and much more.
St. Bernards has worked closely with the A-State athletics training staff to ensure that all student-athletes undergo pre-participation physicals. Additionally, physicians on the medical staff at St. Bernards have served as team doctors for decades.
Not only have physicians on the medical staff assessed injuries and prescribed treatments, but also specially trained physical therapists have provided therapy for Arkansas State's student-athletes, with much of that available at the St. Bernards Sports Medicine rehab clinic located adjacent to Liberty Bank Stadium. St. Bernards meets the primary healthcare of student-athletes as well, with those services conveniently available at its First Care Clinic also located on the ASU campus.
"It is significant that two institutions with 100-plus year histories in this community have chosen to work together to promote A-State athletics," Barber stressed. "St. Bernards is honored to be one of those partners in what is a true win-win situation."
"Our partnership with St. Bernards ensures that our student-athletes will continue to receive the finest healthcare available," said Mohajir. "We appreciate the St. Bernards leadership and our JOSM team doctors for the outstanding care they provide A-State Athletics."
