DELL, AR - Dell Mayor Kenneth Jackson has been charged with a misdemeanor count of violating state election laws for allegedly writing a note on city letterhead that supported a county judge candidate.

Jackson was cited in court this week and ordered to return to court on September 29.

The letter was allegedly written and mailed to several Mississippi County residents in support of Gosnell Mayor Dick Reams in his bid to unseat sitting County Judge Steve McGuire.  Jackson says he didn't know he was breaking the law by writing the letter.  McGuire won the election.
