(WMC-TV) - Hundreds of people gathered at Graceland for the 36th anniversary of Elvis' death Thursday for the candlelight vigil. The vigil comes on the same day as the city of Memphis and Elvis Presley Enterprises announce plans for the 60th anniversary of rock 'n' roll.

Graceland expects from 50- to 60,000 fans visited Memphis for the entire Elvis Week. This makes for a captive audience for the unveiling of plans for next year's 60th anniversary of rock 'n' roll in Memphis .

"During Elvis Week there are so many fans that come from all over the world, and so much media here everything Elvis from different parts of the word this is the right venue to get the word out some of the things we'll be doing next year," said Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau Kevin Kane.

The anniversary of rock 'n' roll will of course include Elvis, something fans can plan for and make their stay even longer.

"I come every year because Elvis is one of my lifelong idols. I've always loved his signing. I listen to Elvis every day. I listen to his songs one album every day," said fan Paul Fivelson.
