HOLCOMB, MO (KFVS) -

One person is dead and five seriously injured after a two-car crash Sunday afternoon near Holcomb.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by 20-year-old Stephanie Newsom from Kennett was going southbound on Highway 25; and Amy Barnes, 35, from Malden was driving a 1995 Dodge Caravan northbound when Newsom crossed the center line and hit the van.

Police say Newsom was pronounced dead at the scene. Three children in her car ages 12 to under one year were seriously injured.

Barnes and her passenger, 36-year-old Richie Barnes, were also seriously injured.

The five injured were flown to a Memphis hospital. The highway patrol said the only two that were known to be wearing seatbelts or a safety device were Amy and Richie Barnes.

We spoke to a family member who said they appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

According to Corporal Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the road the was closed at the s-curve on Highway 25, just south of Holcomb.
