Friends & family find body of man floating in pond

LAKEVIEW, AR (KAIT) – Deputies do not suspect foul play after a body was found in a residential pond.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, Robert Wayne Vanhatter, 47, of Midway was found floating face down in a shallow pond Sunday afternoon.

After a preliminary investigation, deputies believed Vannatter and the property owner were mowing a neighbor's property.  They said the owner of the property left to get some gas, but when he returned later that afternoon, he saw Vannatter's motorcycle but couldn't find Vannatter.

Friends and family searched around the area and found Vannatter in a pond.

In a news release, Sheriff John Montgomery said due to Vannatter's medical history they do not suspect foul play. His body was sent to the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The Baxter County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the incident.
