Marcus Lattimore will not play 2013 NFL season, report says

Former South Carolina running back and current San Francisco 49ers player Marcus Lattimore is likely to sit out the 2013 NFL season, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The report says San Francisco has two weeks to decide to place Lattimore on the injured reserved or the physically unable to perform list.

Lattimore, who was injured last season during the Tennessee game, has been going through intense rehab on his surgically repaired knee over the last year. 

He had been hoping to play this year, telling the NFL Network shortly before the draft that he was looking to be ready.

"Dr. Andrews actually said, 'You're going to shock the world,' so I quoted him. And I really do believe I'll be ready. I'm going at a rate that I knew I could, and I feel great. When I start jogging and I get a little bit stronger, I know it's game on then."

The ex-Gamecock was drafted by the 49ers as the 131st pick in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
