Lessons in Tailgating From Indian Fans

September 18, 2004--Posted at 8:00 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO--Indian fans got an early start on game day Saturday as the Indians hosted nationally ranked Memphis Tigers. "Coach is going to have the players ready, the coaches are ready, and the fans are ready," said one fan.

There's a lot of time between when the football players arrive, and when the fans arrive. Folks say there is not a whole lot to do while they wait......except tailgate.  While they may not always agree on who has the best burgers and ribs in town, but if you ask any Indian fan who's going to win tonight's ball game.........well that's something they all agree on.

"No doubt, ASU all the way," said one fan.

"27-24 ASU," said another fan.

This is the season opener for Arkansas State University, and Indian Stadium is expected to accommodate a record number of football fans.  Sports enthusiasts said tailgating is about comradery, good food, fun, and cheering the Arkansas State Indians to victory.
