SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Some residents in Springfield Township have had enough of the vandalism in their neighborhood.

They say there has been vandalism on their properties for a few years, but this year, it seems to have gotten worse.

"Initially, I thought, ‘My goodness, we are being targeted!'" said one resident, who did not reveal her name.

She says soon after their property was damaged, she learned that 15 others in the neighborhood were hit, as well. Mail boxes have been damaged, rocks were thrown at garage doors, bricks thrown through windows and at homes. Some homes have even been broken into.

Residents have taken their concerns to the Lucas County Sheriff's Office and the township trustees, in an effort to get control of the situation before it gets worse.

"People just need to be accountable and take back their own neighborhoods," said the resident.

Residents are moving forward with a neighborhood block watch program and video surveillance.
