Nashville mom disputes bus driver's claim of assault

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Nashville mother is accused of threatening a school bus driver and trying to hit the bus with her car, but she says she had no choice but to use extreme measures to get the driver's attention.

Tracey Frazier said she cannot trust her child's now-former bus driver at all, especially after the driver had her arrested for assault.

"My kids love school because it's pretty much all we have to get out from where we are," Frazier said.

Frazier only wants the best for her four children, and fighting what she calls a problem with bus bullying now has her facing a felony charge and not at all happy about it.

"I'm supposed to be angry as a parent. No, I did not threaten her in any way. I am supposed to be angry that you're bothering my children and you're an adult," Frazier said.

Frazier's daughter, Chyna, attends Bordeaux Enhanced Option Elementary and relies on the bus for transportation.

On Friday, Frazier tried to stop the driver, the mother says, when Chyna left a wallet and cash on board.

It was the latest in a pattern of problems.

"Every time my kids get off the bus, they're always upset and crying," Frazier said.

And it seems frustration only made things worse.

"I told her, 'Pull that bus over! Pull the bus over!' She didn't," Frazier said.

The bus driver, Marcia Jordan, swore out a warrant, arguing aggravated assault.

In the warrant, she told a different story, writing Frazier screamed at her, threatened to kill her and later drove at the bus head-on, causing the driver to swerve.

Police surprised Frazier at her home with a warrant on Tuesday.

"And I'm like, 'Hey, wait a minute. Wait, what is going on?'" Frazier said.

With the help of friends, Frazier made bond Tuesday night, and she denied the bus driver's accusations Wednesday but not her frustration.

"Yes, I want to whoop her tail. But, unfortunately, I can't. I have to go through the right channels and procedures," Frazier said. "You're an adult. You're an adult. If you have anything to say, you say it to me or you take it up with the proper school authorities."

According to the warrant, Frazier never touched the driver nor hit the school bus. Still, she will be in court next month to face the assault charge.

Frazier said she will now consider a lawsuit against Metro Schools because of this.

And the district has placed the driver on a different bus route.
