IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Western Arkansas man was arrested in connection to a rape that reportedly happened two decades ago in Izard County.
According to the Attorney General's Office, 61-year-old Johnny D. Carte, of Evansville, was arrested by agents from the A.G.'s Cyber Crimes Unit on one count of rape.
The arrest warrant for Carte was issued in Izard County, where the rape allegedly occurred 20 years ago.
Carte was initially arrested on June 28. Agents with the Cyber Crimes Unit searched his Evansville home and seized electronic evidence. According to the release from the A.G.'s office, that evidence is being analyzed.
His bond was set at $100,000.
According to the A.G.'s website, Carte had previously been arrested in Washington County on 30 counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. He was also arrested on two counts of sexual indecency with a child.
