NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) -

Search crews have found a car in the Mississippi River but it is not that of 83-year-old Barbara Stoffer.

Corporal Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says crews found "something of interest" and divers located a car but after further investigation, it is not the car they were looking for.

Parrott says the plan is to regroup tomorrow and continue the investigation.

Crews closed the New Madrid Conservation boat ramp.

Friends of Barbara Stoffer held a candlelight vigil Sunday at the Boat Dock in New Madrid.

Hundreds of people gathered at 8 p.m. in hopes of finding the woman.

New Madrid Sheriff Terry Stephens says the 83-year-old woman is still missing.

They say Barbara Stoffer is 5' 2" tall and weighs 120 pounds with gray hair. She drives a 1993 green Volvo 850 glt, four-door. The license plate number is 073RYW. Police say the tags and driver's license are expired.

Stoffer was last seen Aug. 20 around 5 p.m. Stoffer's sister says she last saw Stoffer Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Stevens said they are searching the entire county by air, water and ground.

New Madrid Chief of Police Dave Simmons said the search is ongoing
