JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department is investigating a residential robbery and shooting that occurred early Monday morning.
The department arrived at College Blvd. around midnight in response to a home break-in burglary and shots fired.
"A person who lives in the 1500 block of W. College Ave. was coming home after going to pick up his wife and noticed there was three black males, one of which was at the door. One of the suspects, after he was confronted by the homeowner, made threats and then discharged a firearm at him," Sgt. Lyle Waterworth said.
According to the police report, the victim escaped uninjured and the missing items have been recovered and taken as evidence.
"The victim was very lucky. If you see someone at your home, when you're outside of your home, safest thing to do is to contact the police department and let us come and help you. That's what we're here for. We're all one community and we're all supposed to help one another out," Waterworth said.
While the victim picked up his wife, one of the victim's friends was watching his kids. According to the police report, she heard a knock at the door and opened it. That's when the three suspects entered the home and pointed a gun at her.
"Always know who's at your door. Typically, if you don't have people come visit you at midnight or you don't know someone's coming to visit you at midnight, look and see who it is. And, again, if it's not somebody who's supposed to be there, feel free to call us," Waterworth said.
JPD is still searching for three black male suspects.
"One if them is described as 5'8 to 5'10 and about 200 lbs. Also is described as wearing a dark colored hood and possibly has braids or dreadlocks," Waterworth said.
Waterworth said it is still unknown what motivated the crime.
