(RNN) – The star of AMC's Breaking Bad has reportedly signed a deal to play the Man of Steel's most recognizable villain in the DC Comics universe.

Bryan Cranston, 57, has been cast for at least six appearances of the chrome-domed, evil mastermind, according to Cosmic Book News. The news on the actor best known as meth kingpin Walter White follows up word that Ben Affleck will become Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel.

Affleck may appear 13 times as the Caped Crusader or his alter-ego, Bruce Wayne.

CBN stated all of the appearances by either may not be extended roles, similar to Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury character popping up in multiple Marvel movies en route to The Avengers.

DC announced a similar plan of multiple characters leading to the release of a feature-length tale on its own super-group, the Justice League. There also was word from the website the comics company has "major interest" in securing Affleck's buddy Matt Damon into a superhero role, too, possibly Aquaman.

Previous incarnations of the Lex Luthor role have been filled by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey.
