Update: Rape charges against local man dropped

MELBOURNE, AR (KAIT) - Nearly a year after he was arrested, charges have been dropped against a Region 8 man charged with sexually assaulting a young girl.

On August 27, 2013, Phillip Kyle Bunch of Cave City was charged with rape.

According to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Bunch forced a 14-year-old girl into having sexual intercourse. The girl told investigators she broke away from Bunch, ran into a nearby wooded area and called 911.

The girl was later rescued on a bluff overlooking the White River, Sheriff Lawrence stated at the time.

Bunch was arrested and held in lieu of $100,000 bond

On Monday, August 4, the rape charge against was dropped against Bunch, according to the Izard County Circuit Clerk’s Office.
