Kyria Seymour of Jonesboro died Saturday, April 19, at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. A memorial fund has been created for an 11-year-old girl who died after she became trapped beneath a pipe in a water-filled ditch for 20 minutes.

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The 17th annual "Paint the Town Red" week kicked off at Fox Meadow Elementary.

The ASU cheerleaders, Howl and Jonesboro community leaders brought the week in with major spirit.

"Arkansas State is a huge contributor to our economy in the area and we love football and it's going to be an exciting season and it just gives businesses an opportunity to show their pride in our university," said Cari White of the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce.

Students, like John Mark Brown, seem just as eager for this year's football season to begin as the adults. The elementary children released balloons to mark the occasion.

"Well, I'm excited Howl is here, right there, and I'm getting balloons.  It's making me so happy that everybody's getting balloons!" said Brown.

The Red Wolves will play their first game Saturday, August 31 at Liberty Bank Stadium against University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
