WBC Volleyball looks to continue winning ways

Posted:

From Williams Baptist College

The Williams Baptist College volleyball team has posted a winning record in five of the last six seasons, and will look to continue the success for the 2013 season.

The Eagles have posted 147 victories the past six seasons, while winning two out of every three games played during that stretch.  Williams has been dominating at home, winning 71% percent of the matches played at WBC.

The roster for Williams includes three seniors: Harley Caldwell, Bailey Layman and Makenna Wiedower, along with three juniors, five sophomores and seven freshmen.

Head Coach Eric Newell enters his seventh season as Head Coach for the Lady Eagles.  This is to be Newell's last season at the helm of the volleyball Eagles.  Williams plans to hire a new volleyball coach and allow Newell to focus on his duties as head coach of the nationally ranked WBC softball team.

The Eagles volleyball squad opens play on the road in Conway, Ark., at the Hendrix Labor Day Tournament on August 30. WBC will start play against Belhaven at 5:00 p.m. and then follow with Centenary College at 7:00 p.m.
