WBC Soccer Eagles lean on experience and leadership for 2013 season

From Williams Baptist College

Pre-season training has commenced for three weeks on the campus of Williams Baptist College for the soccer Eagles. The 2013 squad returns a large group of seniors that will provide experience going into the season.
Logan Austin,  Lucas Braga, Hugo Frutos, Carlos Owens-Hughes, Khalil de Lima, Victor Vouga, and Chris Williams will be relied upon for senior leadership throughout the season.
The Eagles are looking for a return to the American Midwest Conference Tournament, after reaching the tournament for the first time in school history in 2011. WBC won a school record seven games during the 2011 season, and this year's squad contains several athletes who have experience in the AMC conference tournament.
"We have had a good preseason. The guys did a good job coming into pre-season with good fitness, allowing us the opportunity to focus on developing play as a team," noted Head Coach Shane Stolz.
The soccer Eagles have added nine new players to the 2013 squad.  "We have a large group of seniors who have the chance to be great leaders, but we also have a great group of young players who have stepped up as well," said Stolz.
The first match for the Eagles will be on Thursday, August 29, at 4:00 p.m. against Harding University. The game will be played in Walnut Ridge at the WBC Soccer Field.
