Hayti man dead after crash, passenger injured

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KAIT) - A Bootheel man has died and another man was injured after a one vehicle crash on a county road Wednesday evening.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, John L. Williams, 56, of Hayti died after a crash on Pemiscot County Road 407 one mile south of Route J.

The crash report states Williams was driving a GMC Sierra north when he lost control on a gravel road and the truck ran off the road. It overturned and Williams was ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers state he was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in the truck, Larenzo Hubbard also of Hayti, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. It is not known whether or not he was wearing a seat belt, according to highway patrol.
