Bay Native to Head Up Delta Regional Authority

SEPTEMBER 21, 2004 - Posted at 11:16 a.m. CDT

CLARKSDALE, MS - A Craighead County native has been named the new executive director of the Delta Regional Authority.  Ronnie D. Wilson succeeds Hayes Dent in the position.  Wilson has served for the past six years as the national ombudsman for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry in Atlanta.

"Ron Wilson brings an enormous amount of diverse experience in government to the DRA," said DRA Federal Co-chairman Pete Johnson.  "He is an outstanding leader, someone who has worked in both civilian and military government capacities.  His experience and leadership will be invaluable to the DRA."

Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, the state's DRA co-chairman, said he was also delighted to have Wilson on board.  "Ron has years of experience and now will be able to put that experience to work as we further the mission of the Delta Regional Authority.  It helps that he's a Delta native who has a passion for improving the quality of life in the region."

Wilson is a graduate of Bay High School, and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism/radio-television at Arkansas State University.  He currently lives in Jonesboro, Georgia.
