JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) — Arkansas State held the 17th annual "Order of the Pack" pep rally Thursday night at Liberty Bank Stadium and inducted a new class of students into the Red Wolves family while recognizing its student-athletes for their commitment to A-State.
D'Andre Anderson, president of the Student Government Association, welcomed the crowd to the event, while Ashlyn Godfrey and Nathan Nelson, directors of the Student Activities Board, emceed the opening portion of the program.
Arkansas State University Chancellor Dr. Tim Hudson and his wife Dr. Dee Dee Hudson also spoke to those in attendance and thanked students and supporters for their contributions to the University.
The event was highlighted by the introduction of the newest member to the Red Wolves family, Scarlet, who will serve as A-State's newest spirit character along with Howl during the upcoming athletics season.
The Sound of the Natural State Marching Band, the A-State Cheerleader and Red Wolves Dancers led the crowd in a tutorial of the various spirit chants that will be performed during this year's football games.
A-State Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir then spoke and encouraged the student-body and all A-State fans to show their support on game days and to cheer on the Red Wolves from stands at Liberty Bank Stadium.
The night concluded with remarks from A-State head football coach Bryan Harsin who encouraged everyone to attend the Red Wolves home football games that begin Saturday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. against UAPB. Senior kicker Brian Davis and senior quarterback Phillip Butterfield also addressed the crowd and thanked everyone for their support of all of the A-State athletics programs.
Prior to the pep rally, the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce held the "Big Great A-State Tailgate" in conjunction with its Paint the Town Red celebration.
