Arkansas releases 2014 gymnastics schedule

FAYETTEVILLE ( – The University of Arkansas gymnastics team will feature an 11 meet schedule with six of the dates at home in Barnhill Arena. The Razorbacks will also host the 2014 NCAA Fayetteville Regional to begin the postseason. The Razorbacks' schedule features matchups against five of the six teams that made the NCAA Super Six last season.

"We are excited to have this type of level of competition week in and week out," co-head coach René Lyst said. "This schedule will be a great way to help us prepare for the postseason."

The Razorbacks' five home meet regular season schedule includes Western Michigan, Auburn, LSU, Kentucky and Oklahoma, with LSU and Oklahoma each making the NCAA Super Six competition last season.

Arkansas will also travel on the road to Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Nebraska. Three of Arkansas' road opponents made the Super Six in Alabama, Georgia and the 2013 NCAA Gymnastics National Champion Florida Gators.

The Razorbacks will also host an NCAA Regional for the fourth time in program history. Arkansas has advanced to the NCAA Championship meet each of the three previous times they have hosted a regional.

"We always love to host an NCAA Regional," Lyst said. "We have a great environment inside Barnhill Arena. This will be a great way to further showcase our sport in front of our fans and help us advance to the NCAA Championship Meet."

The Razorbacks will return 2013 All-American Katherine Grable as well as previously honored All-Americans Stephani Canizaro and Bailee Zumwalde. Arkansas also returns All-Southeastern Conference performers Sydnie Dillard and Keara Glover. Additionally, the Razorbacks welcome back letterwinners Heather Elswick, Erin Freier, Shelby Salmon and Scarlett Williams.
