JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – TheFood Bank of Northeast Arkansas asked Region 8 to take action this month for HungerAction Awareness Month.
Starting Thursday, they'reasking residents to wear orange as a part of Go Orange Day. They're alsoopening the doors of the distribution and giving tours of the facility all daylong. Vicki Pillow with the Food Bank said they currently serve 51-hundredpeople a week and the need is going up.
"We continue to havefamilies who have never been to one of our partner food pantries before, comingand needing that temporary food assistance," said Pillow.
Arkansas is currently tiedwith Mississippi as the state with the highest rate of hunger insecurity in thecountry.
