SEPTEMBER 22, 2004 - Posted at 11:42 a.m. CDT

KENNETT, MO - The Bootheel Drug Task Force will conduct a methamphetamine awareness seminar for area retailers in southeast Missouri on October 12.

Set for 6 p.m. at the Kennett High School Auditorium, the event will be co-sponsored by the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department and the Kennett Police Department.  According to a news release, "the class is designed to help retailers train clerks how to spot possible meth labs before they become functional and discuss solutions that stores can take to better protect themselves and the public."  Many of the ingredients used in the manufacturing of meth can be purchased over-the-counter at most discount or grocery stores.

More information is available by calling 573-359-0172.
