From Williams Baptist College

Williams Baptist College defeated Central Baptist College 1-0 on Tuesday.  The hotly contested match was played at the WBC soccer field in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Victor Vouga scored the match winning goal with under ten minutes remaining in the contest.  He was set up by teammate Matheus Allonso, who was rewarded with the assist.

"The game was physical, but we told our guys if we stick together as one unit, the rest will take care of itself.  I didn't expect it to take 80 minutes to score, but we will take it," said Head Coach Shane Stolz.

Allonso and Javier Piedra combined for the shutout.  Piedra led the Eagles with eight saves.

The win gets Williams off to a good start, giving them a 1-0 record on the season.

The next match for the men's soccer squad will be against Bacone College on Saturday, September 7th. The start time is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the game will be played in Walnut Ridge.
