JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro A&P Commission announced this year's festivities for the 5th annual Downtown Jonesboro BBQ Festival.

Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be given to the top barbecue teams in four divisions. Jack Turner with the City of Jonesboro said this event is an opportunity to show visitors what Jonesboro has to offer.

"We have teams coming all the way from Washington state that will travel all the way to Arkansas just to compete in a BBQ contest," said Turner. "So, it's an opportunity for our city to showcase itself to some of these other people that aren't from Arkansas, haven't been to Arkansas much less Jonesboro."

Local entertainers will provide music for the event.

"We've got local music all day on September 28th Lee Brice, who has Parking Lot Party, in the top 10 right now.  He's got 4 number one songs.  So, it's just going to be a big time and it's all free," said Bill Presley of the Jonesboro Radio Group.

Other entertainers will be J-B-R, Shotgun Billy's, Tony Spinner and South 40. The festival is happening on Sept. 28.
