ASU Bowling announces 2013-14 schedule

JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team announced its schedule for the 2013-14 season Thursday and features the Red Wolves in nine regular season tournaments.

A-State will compete against Vanderbilt in an exhibition Oct. 27 in Jackson, Tenn. before opening the regular season Nov. 1-3 in Hackensack, N.J., at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Jamboree.  The Red Wolves will participate in the Crusader Classic Nov. 8-10 hosted by Valparaiso University and the Big Red Invite Nov. 21-23 hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., to close out the month of November.

"We have put together a very competitive schedule that should allow us to continue to compete on the national stage," A-State bowling coach Justin Kostick said.

Arkansas State will host the Mid-Winter Invitational Jan. 17-19 in Jonesboro and will follow with a trip to Arlington, Texas for the Prairie View A&M Invitational Jan. 31-Feb. 2.  ASU will compete in the Bethune-Cookman Wildcat Invitational Feb. 7-9 in Daytona Beach, Fla., and play in the Kat Klash Invitational Feb. 14-16 hosted by Sam Houston State in Houston, Texas.

A-State will hit the lanes Feb. 28-March 2 in Kansas City, Mo., as part of the University of Central Missouri Invitational before closing out the regular season in the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt in Smyra, Tenn., March 7-9.  The National Championship will take place in Wickliffe, Ohio April 9-12.

Last season, the Red Wolves recorded a school-record 91 wins and made its sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  A-State advanced to the national semifinals before losing to eventual champion Nebraska.
