Explosive device found in minivan in NW Arkansas

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a bomb squad has defused a small explosive device that was found in a minivan in northwest Arkansas.

Rogers Police said in a news release that the explosive device was discovered on Saturday morning after officers responded to a crash involving a car and a minivan.

Police said the driver of the minivan initially fled, but returned after witnesses described hearing a gunshot.

Authorities say the driver was bleeding at the hand and was taken to the hospital.

Police said officers learned that there could be a small explosive device in the minivan, so they blocked off the area.

A bomb squad confirmed that there was an explosive device and defused it.

Rogers Police arrested the driver of the minivan for several warrants. More charges are expected.
