New Commander for 875th engineers

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Arkansas Army National Guard's 875th Engineers welcomed their new Battalion Commander Saturday at the change of command ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the Armed Force Reserve Center in Jonesboro.

During the ceremony, Lt. Colonel Kevin Vines, the outgoing commander, handed over the unit colors to the incoming commander Lt. Colonel Mike Henderson.

Executive Officer for the 875th, Tim Dean said the ceremony is an opportunity for the troops to meet their new commander.

"He grew up in Imboden Arkansas," said Dean. "And was the Administrative Officer for the 875th for several years about 8 years and then later on went down to Little Rock. He is very familiar with this area, he's from northeast Arkansas and this is what he considers to be home."

Community leaders also attended the ceremony to meet the new commander.
