ASU will face the SBC Defensive Player of the Week on Thursday

NEW ORLEANS ( - Sun Belt teams combined for four more non-conference wins on Saturday with Texas State and Troy moving to 2-0 on the season and Louisiana-Monroe and South Alabama earning their first wins of the season.

Notably, South Alabama's win over Tulane pushed the Sun Belt's record to 3-0 against Conference-USA on the season. The two conferences have only one remaining regular season contest as Tulane visits ULM on September 28. Those two teams met last season with ULM winning 63-10.

Texas State opened with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2005 and just the third time since 1992 when Dennis Franchione was head coach. The Bobcats will remain undefeated for at least one more week as they have off this upcoming Saturday before travelling to Lubbok to face Texas Tech on September 21.

Troy will take its 2-0 record to Jonesboro for a Thursday night ESPNU clash with conference rival Arkansas State. The two teams have combined to win at least a share of the Sun Belt Championship for the last eight years. Arkansas State has won the last two SBC titles outright along with a share of the 2005 championship, while Troy took at least a piece of the championship for five seasons from 2006 through 2010.

Next Saturday will see another early season conference game as WKU travels to Mobile to play USA. Louisiana-Lafayette will be playing its home opener for the 2013 season after playing on the road the previous two weeks. ULM will begin a two-game non-conference road swing as it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., for its first ever meeting with Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.
