Man climbs traffic pole, assaults firefighter

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police say a man climbed up a traffic pole and assaulted a firefighter early Tuesday morning at Laskey and Jamieson in west Toledo.

Negotiators had to talk to man down after he ran across the street and climbed up the pole. Police say they think the man was high on some type of drug, and that the man had to be tied down to control him once he climbed down the pole. The man does not have any injuries, but it still being checked out.

The firefighter that was assaulted does not have any serious injuries.

Crews say they are in the process of clearing the scene.
