Troopers find $5K of marijuana in garbage bag on I-75

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two people from Cincinnati are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized four packages of marijuana, worth more than $5,000, during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 Monday.

Troopers stopped a rented 2013 Ford Fusion with Maryland registration for a speed violation on I-75 southbound near milepost 199 shortly before midnight. Criminal indicators were observed and a Perrysburg Township Police Department drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed a white garbage bag containing four packages of marijuana, weighing more than a pound, worth $5,460.

The driver, Damian L. Walker, 34, and passenger, Stephanie R. Kendrick, 25, both of Cincinnati, were incarcerated in the Wood County Jail. They have each been charged with possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony, along with trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony.
