MAYNARD, AR (KAIT)- The city of Maynard wrapped up their 33rd Annual Pioneer Days event at Pioneer Park, Saturday.
This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year to raise money for the upkeep and maintenance of the park. Just this year the park committee updated the electricity in the cabin and recently replaced the roof.
Donna Pepper is the co-chair of Pioneer Day and says it's important to preserve the city's history.
"To maintain the pioneer heritage to see how things worked all these years ago. I mean we've some much technology now that people forget what it use to be like," Peppers said.
This event is the biggest draw to Maynard each year. The event kicked off Thursday with a pet parade and school night and ended Saturday.
"In 1980 we got this cabin that's behind me and moved it from another location. We took it apart board by board and reassembled it here. That's when we established the Maynard Pioneer Park," Peppers said.
The event also featured several booths from local vendors. The Maynard Fire Department showed off their new fire truck and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unveiled their new trailer called "The Maiden Voyage."
